Lyrics and Rhythm Come to MI Apr 24, 2004
On Saturday evening, April 24 at 8:00pm, MI and Inspire Entertainment will co-host a special event aptly named Lyrics & Rhythm. Offering a blend of spoken word, hip-hop and soul, the ensemble performs regularly as part of the LA “spoken word” scene. Admission is free to MI students with ID and is $10.00 for non-student guests. Artists scheduled to perform include winners of the national spoken word "Slam Fest" Shihan the Poet, Steve Connell and Rives along with poets Rachel Kann, Cayenne, Artus Mansoir, Deana and Ghetto Spear. Other features include appearances by pop-locking legend Tic-Tac and actor / musician / former MI student Malcolm Jamal Warner, as well as a video tribute to poet Maya Angelou. Representing MI's current student population will be vocalist Patrick Sheilds & Eclectic City along with Keneice featuring Beautifly. On the same evening beginning at 10:00pm in the Passage, MI instructors Christopher Wight and David Valencia will perform their funky mix of hip-hop, rap and electronica. Come out to the Boulevard and make a night of it!
