Audio Engineer Program Presents "Getting the Most Out of Your Mixing" with Matt Wallace

|    Apr 29, 2011

On Friday, April 29 from 1-3pm in Studio A, MI’s Audio Engineering program presents “Getting the Most of your Mixing,” a special clinic with producer-mixer-engineer Matt Wallace. Matt will cover a wide variety of mixing concepts and techniques including coherency, rhythmic alignment, creative use of compression, ‘poor man’s doubling,’ energy bumps at the top of a chorus, post-mix ‘mastering,’ comparison to current artists/groups, and more.

Matt Wallace is a producer, mixer, engineer, and co-writer, as well as a musician who has performed (usually uncredited) on many of the albums he's produced. He has worked with a variety of artists from melodic pop to ugly, brutal metal and everything in between, including Maroon 5, O.A.R., Train, Faith No More, Sugarcult, Ludo, and Chantal Kreviazuk, among many others.  He has also worked with the Deftones, Mushroomhead, REM, Sheryl Crow, and Everlast. He has twice been nominated for Grammys, and won a Grammy for his work with Maroon 5.

This event is open to all MI students. To RSVP, email krystals@mi.edu with “Wallace Clinic” in the subject line.
