Drum Legend James Gadson Makes It Funky
Mar 04, 2004

On Thursday, March 4, legendary drummer James Gadson will present a clinic and concert performance in MI's main concert hall, P-100. Gadson’s decades in the business have included innumerable recordings and shows with artists from Jackie Wilson, Otis Redding, James Brown and Bill Withers to Donald Fagen, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Anita Baker and Beck. He represents a living history of R&B drumming, spanning blues, soul, funk and hip hop with a credit list that extends to multiple single-spaced pages. Playing, writing, producing- one thing is beyond dispute: whatsoever James Gadson does, it has got to be funky.
