Late-Night TV Power Players Kevin Eubanks and Marvin "Smitty" Smith Visit MI

|    Feb 04, 2010

On Thursday, February 4, the Guitar and Drum Programs at Musicians Institute present an exclusive dual concert/clinic with two musical titans of late-night television: longtime Tonight Show guitarist (and Jay Leno sidekick) Kevin Eubanks and drummer Marvin "Smitty" Smith.

For this MI event, the duo will demonstrate the magical guitar/drums interplay that has made them network TV music icons. Their diverse musical backgrounds include stints with such jazz icons as Sonny Rollins, Dave Holland, Hank Jones, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Frank Foster and Frank Wess, Sam Rivers, Art Farmer, Benny Golson, Slide Hampton, Milt Jackson, and the Ron Carter Quartet.

As masters of the arts of improvisation and swing as well as outstanding examples of professional success, this dynamic duo will inspire students to realize their own ambitions in the entertainment industry.
