Music Business Seminar: “The Role of the Record Producer after the Advent of Technology”
| Feb 29, 2012
As part of its ongoing Music Business Redefined seminar series, MI presents “The Role of the Record Producer after the Advent of Technology” with producer/publisher Bob Cutarella. The winner of two GRAMMY Awards, Bob is a writer, artist, producer, publisher and former A&R executive who over the past 25 years has established himself as an industry powerhouse. Serving six years as Director of Talent Acquisition for Chappell Music, Bob worked with Eric Clapton, the BeeGees, Pink Floyd, the Police, Elton John, R.E.M. and others before moving to HME/CBS Records where he served as Vice President of A&R, and worked with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Patrick Simmons, Gino Vanelli and more. In 1985, Bob opened his own company, Robert Cutarella Entertainment, and produced several worldwide hits with Celine Dion, Alice Cooper, Jennifer Rush, 38 Special, and Deep Purple to name a few. Joining MCA Music as East Coast Director in 1991, Bob continued his streak of hits with chart-topping records with Michael Bolton, Barbara Streisand, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and more. In 1994, Bob ventured out on his own to pursue production and has since produced records with artists including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Joss Stone, Sting, Slash, Allison Krauss, John Rzeznik, and Keith Richards. Most recently he produced High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale for MGM's new film Picture This. This event is open to all students and alumni (alumni - please RSVP by emailing alumni@mi.edu). Date: Wednesday, February 29 Time: 2-4pm Location: MBH-101 (Music Business Annex, 1518 N. Highland Ave, Hollywood CA 90028)
