GIT Presents Phil DeGruy
| Nov 08, 2007
On Thursday, November 8, astonishing 17-string New Orleans guitar player Phil DeGruy returns to GIT with his unique Guitarp for an afternoon of open counseling demonstrating his virtuoso solo performance skills. DeGruy has just released a new CD, Just Duet, on which he duets with a list of guitar luminaries including Larry Coryell, Charlie Hunter, Mike Stern, Hank Mackie, Reeves Gabrels, Steve Masakowski, and David Tronzo.Steve Vai, no stranger to the outer orbits of guitar performance, said of DeGruy, "Phil's approach to the guitar sounds like John Coltrane meets Mel Brooks at a party for Salvador Dali. It's uncanny the way he has conjured up such an unorthodox way to attend to virtuosity".
