MI Student Featured in Red Cross Benefit Concert Nov 10, 2005
VIT student Skyler Stonestreet is set to appear in a Red Cross Emergency Disaster Relief Fund benefit concert to be held on November 10 at the historic El Rey Theater on Wilshire Boulevard. Stonestreet, a singer-songwriter who recently moved from Santa Barbara to study at VIT, first learned about the event on Myspace. She submitted her own page to concert organizer Kershona Mayo, who came to a live show and promptly invited her to participate. "I am just so honored to be able to take part and perform as an artist in such a wonderful event", said Stonestreet. "I've always felt that music has such wonderful healing power and I hope that we as artists can use music to help fill some of the voids left by these tragedies." Presented by Hot Sauce Records and PBS station 89.9 KCRW, Give Into the Groove will feature DJ’s, musicians, fashion designers and artists performing and displaying their work. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Disaster Relief Fund, which brings emergency assistance to thousands of families who have been forced out of their homes by floods, earthquakes, and fires. Other than Stonestreet, the concert will feature performances by The Chapin Sisters, Jim Bianco, Chris and Thomas, and Vagenius.
