Held in MI’s main concert hall in downtown Hollywood, these events offer participants a chance to hear and interact with MI’s renowned Music Business faculty and other industry professionals. SEMINAR 1: GETTING YOUR MUSIC INTO FILMS, TV, and VIDEO GAMES Thursday, January 21 7:00pm Song placement in visual media is a lucrative source of income for songwriters and artists. Hear a panel of song licensing and music publishing experts explain the process of music placement and licensing, including how deals are structured, who selects the music and what they look for, and how to get your music heard. Seminar/panel discussion will be followed by Q&A. SEMINAR 2: A&R: WE HEAR YOU! Thursday, February 18 7:00pm A&R reps are the gatekeepers of the music industry – at every major record label, the A&R staff identifies trends, searches out new artists, and evaluates up-and-coming talent.
