Acoustic Guitar Virtuoso Monte Montgomery in Concert, Q&A
| Jan 13, 2010
On Wednesday, January 13 at 4:00pm in the Concert Hall, the Guitar Program at MI presents acoustic guitar virtuoso Monte Montgomery in a concert and Q&A session. Austin, Texas, has produced many a great guitarist (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Doyle Bramhall, and Eric Johnson come to mind), but this time the thunder comes on acoustic guitar in the form of Monte Montgomery. A brilliant guitarist who has been gigging professionally since he was a teenager, Monte will inspire students with his intricate, yet explosive Chet Atkins-meets-Jimi Hendrix playing style. Then, in a special question-and-answer session, he’ll explain how he evolved from an adolescent learning Fleetwood Mac songs off the 8-track player in his mom’s car to becoming one of the most dynamic acoustic-electric players the instrument has ever known. You’ve never seen an acoustic treated so right ... and so wrong!
