MI’s Music Business Program Hosts Free to the Public Summer Seminars on Networking in the Music Business and Getting Signed
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Summer’s going to be red hot at Musicians Institute (www.mi.edu) as MI’s Music Business Program presents two free, open-to-the-public seminars at the school’s Hollywood campus.
Musicians, vocalists, solo artists, songwriters, producers, aspiring industry players and anyone else with an interest in a music career is invited to listen and ask questions as MI Music Business instructors and Career Counselors discuss strategies for success in the contemporary music industry.
The first event, “Networking in the Music Business,” is set for July 23 at 7 p.m. The instructor is Dan Kimpel, creator of the Master Networking course at Sir Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Dan will discuss the secrets of effective networking techniques and you’ll learn how to make a good first impression, how to dress for success, the words that turn people off, and effective techniques for cold-calling.
The second event, “Getting Signed,” set for August 20 at 7 p.m., will feature record company A&R representatives fielding important questions on the issue, including: Should you release an indie CD? Does A&R still exist? What kinds of deals are available these days? How do you get noticed and get signed?
Both events will be held in MI’s Concert Hall, 1655 N. McCadden Place, Hollywood, CA 90028. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; food will be provided while it lasts. To reserve your seat, please RSVP: 1-800-255-7529.
