MI SUCCESS STORIES
2009 AMERICAN IDOL FINALIST BROOKE WHITE HITS #1 ON iTUNES POP ALBUM CHART WITH ‘HIGH HOPES AND HEARTBREAK’ Also This Month, Esteemed MI Jazz Guitar Instructor Sid Jacobs Is Featured in Guitar Player Magazine And Former MI Summershot Student Travis Marsh Stars With His Sister Amanda In The Popular Webseries ‘Anywhere’

Brooke White (Voice) has reached the #1 position on the iTunes Top Pop Album chart with her release High Hopes and Heartbreak, surpassing such artists as Michael Jackson, Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga. Brooke attended MI's Encore Program in 2003 before going on to reach the Final Four in the 2008 American Idol competition, where she won acclaim for her all-around musical skills and down-to-earth vocal delivery.

Sid Jacobs, one of MI esteemed jazz guitar instructors, is featured in the current issue of Guitar Player Magazine (August 2009). In the article, Jacobs covers everything from the music of John Coltrane arranged for guitar--he offers a captivating chord melody version of the legendary saxophonist's timeless ballad, “Naima,” in full transcription--to the fine art of using pedal tones and open strings within guitar pieces.

The amazingly talented real life brother/sister team of Travis Marsh—who attended MI’s Summershot when he was just 13--and Amanda Marsh are starring in the groundbreaking new webseries “Anywhere.” The talented performers and musicians play siblings trying desperately to overcome the difficulties of losing their brother and finding their estranged musician father.

Singer Donald Robinson, whose CD single Donald Robinson Sings Love Songs has been entered into the General Field in the Best New Artist Grammy Award category for 2009, shot a video for his new renditions of “Love Me Tender” and “Without Love (There Is Nothing)” at MI and also used the school’s pre-production and post-production facilities to develop and complete the project.
