Through his innovative work as a solo artist and his contributions as a sideman to Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, Stuart Hamm has firmly established himself as one of the most influential electric bassists in the world. Stuart Hamm has released six critically-acclaimed studio recordings showcasing his unique style of playing the bass as a lead instrument within a solo environment and ensemble formats on spectrum of repertoire that merges Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Classical, Country, and urban sounds: Radio Free Albemuth (1988), Kings of Sleep (1989), The Urge (1991), Outbound (2000), Live StuX2 (2007) and Just Outside of Normal (2010). Over the past few decades, Hamm has also toured as one of the world’s premier bass clinicians and has demonstrated his signature techniques and methodologies through his best-selling instructional videos, Slap, Pop & Tap for the Bass and Deeper Inside the Bass, and Stuart Hamm - The Bass Book. He has also created a series of bass courses through Truefire.com including Bass Basics and Fretboard Fitness.In addition his busy schedule of clinics, Stuart Hamm continues to tour throughout the world with the likes of Frank Gimbale, Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers as well as with his ‘bass triple threat supergroup’ BX3. At MI, Stuart Hamm is the Director of the Bass Program.
