Clayden, Jon
Voice

As a core and founding member of the UK alternative band Pitchshifter, vocalist Jon Clayden has performed live in twenty-five countries, including festivals such as Ozzfest, Warped Tour and Big Day Out.  Jon has toured and played live with industry giants such as Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Incubus, Queens Of The Stoneage, Tool, The Offspring, Metallica, Pantera, Ice-T, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Static X and more.

Prior to joining MI as Director of the Voice Department, Jon taught Music Creation and Music Business Management at schools and colleges in the UK and US. He was formerly the Associate Director of Career Development for both the Los Angeles Film School and the Los Angeles Recording School, and he holds a Master’s Degree focusing on Music Business Management from the University of Middlesex in London.

Mr. Clayden currently owns and operates PSI Records, licensing music to movie and TV productions including Transformers, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Halloween, Bond: Quantum of Solace, Valkyrie, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Doubt. His own music has also been featured in movies, trailers, commercials, video games and TV shows such as Paycheck, Mortal Kombat, Cat Woman, VW Bug, SX Superstar, Test Drive, Twisted Metal, Brainscan and more.

Jon’s studio experience includes co-writing, programming, engineering, and/or producing albums and DVDs for labels such as Geffen, MCA and Sanctuary while with such name producers as Dave Jerden (Alice in Chains, Offspring, Jane’s Addiction) and Machine (Fall Out Boy, Lamb Of God, Lost Prophets), resulting in industry accolades including a “Best Video Award” from Kerrang magazine. His musical collaborations include studio recordings with Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) and John Stanier (Helmet) and live performances with Slash (Guns’N’Roses), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), and Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver). Jon has created remixes for a wide range of bands from Platinum-selling Welsh giants Stereophonics to Chicago underground industrialites, Pigface and New York metallers Prong.

As a consultant, Jon has worked with capital investment firms such as Bear Stearns, Bain & Co. and Kensico Capital to determine the financial viability of North American publishing acquisitions and provided rights-and-clearances advice for feature-length documentaries such as Wake Up Screaming.

Musicians Institute welcomes Mr. Clayden’s valuable contributions to its creative staff of talented industry professionals and educators.
