Baccalaureate, Voice

Katie earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University. While a student at WMU, she toured France, Belgium, South Africa, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Latvia with the “Gold Company Sextet,” “Gold Company,” and the “University Chorale.” Katie has also performed in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and Birdland (NYC), and The Jazz Bakery (LA). She has performed with Bobby McFerrin, Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer), and Darmon Meader (New York Voices). Her debut television performance was with Gnarles Barkley on the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards, and she is also featured on the upcoming Bobby McFerrin Choral Album and on stage with the Matt Roberts Group. While in New York, Katie was the stand-by for both female roles in the off-Broadway production Loudmouth by “Toxic Audio” and toured with the show in the Caribbean and Mexico. Katie was named "Best Collegiate Jazz Vocalist" in the 2004 Downbeat Awards. She also studies acting and dance and is a certified Vinyasa yoga instructor. At MI, Katie teaches Harmony and Theory, Ear Training, Sight Singing, Private Voice Lessons, Tap Dancing, Pedagogy, Keyboard, Open Counseling, and sings in Degree Ensemble and LPW’s. http://www.myspace.com/singinkate
