Homero Campos Earns Masters Degree
Aug 04, 2008
Guitar

Homero Campos (Bachelor of Music, Guitar) followed his MI degree with graduate studies at West Texas A&M University, where he earned a 3.8 GPA and received his Master of Arts in Music degree this past May. He recently checked in with this update and some perspectives on his MI experience:

“I am currently an instructor in guitar as well as the music lab supervisor at Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas.  Each semester I teach from 15 to 20 students as well as a guitar classes and ensembles.  Amarillo College is one of the top community colleges in the country and it is a great opportunity to be a faculty member there. I have also started my own private teaching studio – Campos Guitar Studio –where I teach about 30 to 40 students depending on the time of year, and I play regularly in local jazz and rock bands as well as with the Amarillo Opera and at Amarillo College.

“MI helped me in my academic career by giving me the skills necessary to succeed in a graduate degree program.  There were many times when I watched my fellow students struggle to understand some advanced music theory concepts while I had no problem with them.  I give MI credit for providing me with the knowledge to understand these concepts.  My education at MI was far more advanced than I realized at the time – it taught me to view things in more than one way and apply the skills necessary to accomplish the task.  This has been true not only in my academic career but also in my professional career. My academic studies at MI provided me with a solid foundation in all areas of music.”
