Peter Fischer (Guitar) checked in recently from his home in Germany to bring us up to date on life after MI; here’s his story:
“After having been featured in Mike Varney's "Spotlight"-column of Guitar Player magazine in November 1989 and graduating from GIT in 1990, my career went really smoothly. I´ve written more than ten instructional books for Mel Bay (including translations to English, Japanese and Chinese) and have been sold a few hundred thousand copies. Besides that I played on more than 60 CDs (and on far more demos and unreleased productions) and have done more than 300 guitar clinics and 800 live shows worldwide.
“For the last couple of years I have been working closely with the legendary German guitar and amp manufacturer Framus. The Peter Fischer Signature Model, based on one of my custom-made Framus Diabolos, was introduced at the Frankfurt Music Show this March and will be available internationally in June 2008 (the current issue of Guitar World (with Yngwie on the cover) has a full-page ad with me and that guitar (see photo). I am also endorsed by Lexicon and Roland, which makes my life a lot easier!
"My main band, with British lead singer Michael Antony, is Seafoam Green. We make pop music, that is, somewhere between BritPop, modern Country and Adult Contemporary Rock. From our 2004 debut album Songs From A Beautiful Sad Summer two singles ("Wake Up Miss America" and "Change (A Girl Like You)") received good radio airplay on German nationwide radio. In September 2007, we had a one-hour TV broadcast of one our shows on nationwide German television. In fall 2008 we’ll release our follow-up album Think Green, which I produced over the last two years and which will be a little bit more Rock.
"In August 2008 the Rock-Pop-Jazz Academy Mittelhessen will open its doors. I developed the general educational concept and of course the guitar program for that vocational school. Besides that I will be teaching the guitar classes.
"Lead singer and guitar player Andy Brings (formerly of SODOM, The Traceelords) nows sings in German and I’m playing in his new band. His debut record (produced by famous German producer Uwe Hoffmann (Die Ärzte, Sportfreunde Stiller) will be out in 2008 as well. If you like kick-ass rock music with German lyrics and lots of guitar you will dig it!
"What else do I do? Sometimes I play with the Jazz/Pop band DePhazz that is really popular in Europe as well as the Top 40 band Piccadilly, and I like producing, mixing, mastering and playing on other people's records (e.g. this year Lacanau Les Vacances Sont Là, Pop Life, and ElPostre just to name a few)."
