The Recording Institute of Technology prepares graduates for careers in the professional recording industry by providing in-depth knowledge of the essential technical aspects of recording as well as practical experience in MI’s state-of-the-art studios. MI’s unique facility in the heart of Hollywood surrounds you with musicians for unparalleled recording opportunities in virtually every contemporary musical style. Whether your goal is to be a pro audio engineer, master the recording process as an artist or producer, or learn the art of film and television post-production audio, RIT provides the knowledge and experience to make it a reality.

Audio program options include:

Certificate in Audio Engineering: two quarters, 30 credit units
Focused, hands-on training in professional audio production

Certificate in Audio Engineering (Post-Production Audio): three quarters, 45 credit units
Combines the 30-unit Certificate in Audio Engineering with an additional quarter of intensive training in the art of recording, editing and mixing music, dialogue, and sound effects for film and television.

Associate of Arts - Combined Emphasis: six quarters, 90 credit units
Combines the 30-unit Audio Engineering curriculum with 60 units of performance-based training on bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion, or voice (see Programs>By Degree>Associate of Arts for more information).

Bachelor of Music in Performance, Minor in Audio Production: 13 quarters, 192 credit units
A comprehensive performance degree in bass, guitar, keyboard, percussion or voice including 30 units of intensive training in audio production (see Programs>By Degree>Bachelor of Music for more information)

Track, overdub and mix in first-rank studios featuring industry-standard equipment including Neve, SSL, DigiDesign, Neumann and more

Day & Night Schedules, 24-hour Lab Access
A choice of schedules and quarterly starts provide working students with maximum flexibility. Practice, study, experiment, and record your musical projects at any time of the day or night using the latest Digidesign software and plug-ins.
